which in turn Communicates with the rest of the Departments in the

TECHNOLOGY USED
As part of the change in the organization since year 2003, the
department has involved the latest in satellite technology in our
daily operation to help increase our vessels catch. Examples of
the new technology being utilized in the daily operations consist
of the following:
-
ORBMAP software provided by Orbimage satellites
orbiting around the globe. This program gives oceanographic
conditions ( i.e. plankton coverage, sea surface temperature,
wave height, direction and etc.) for the waters we generally
fish in. This information is delivered to operations via
e-mail daily. With the use of this information it assists us
at operations to determine the most conducive location to go
fishing.
-
Purple Finder: This is an asset control system
which currently being used. This system enables the department
to keep track of the fishing fleet wherever they go. Both
software programs put together has proved to be very
beneficial to the organization as a whole. This is evident in
the sharp rise in tuna catch quantity.
-
Longshot Database:
Maps Tuna's very own database system which operations use to
enter every catch and shot detail of fishing journeys. This
includes the shot position, sea temperature, catch weight and
quantity, the species of fish caught and etc. The data
gathered is then used to help assess the performance of the
captains and forecasting on fishing grounds.
